James

For long term succes it is important to manage Fun and Focus. Fun prevents the energy well to dry out. Fun is also the driving force behind engagement. Focus ensures that the resources are well spent and goals are achieved. James helps each team member to manage Fun and Focus professionally. James, however is only one of the four actors in this process.

The Actors
  • The manager to introduce James (the why and how) and to hand over the vouchers.
  • The participant who wants to learn and grow.
  • ForeF to guide and motivate the participant. This is done by a ForeF expert, no A.I. is used.
  • James, for data capturing (measuring), processing and reporting.

The Rules
  • Participation is done by activating the voucher. Only activated vouchers are invoiced.
  • Participation is voluntary. There is no penalty or incentive to participate. There should only be a personal motivation to learn and grow
  • No personal data is shared. The manager does not get any personal scores and even does not know who participates. Learning requires full psychological safety.
The Phases

After the Start (configuration) the structure follows the classic PDCA process.

Start is to set up the campaign. No upfront training is needed, ForeF instructs what is needed for each phase and monitors the progress.

In the Plan-phase the participant enters the ‘ideal’ week in James. The best guess how much time should be spend on each goal.

During this phase James will capture the measurements. It is done highly efficient and only takes 4 – 5 seconds per measure. It is crucial to measure on-the-job to get quality data.

James reports the Fun and Focus scores, the matrix and trend-overviews. The role of the participant is to analyse the data in order to get meaningful insights.

Without action no improvement and a lot of initiatives fail in this phase. As the participant defines the action based on the personal insights

, it is likely that these actions are actually being executed.

Each improvement campaign consists of 4 cycles. It is a very efficient method as a full cycle only takes 15-20 minutes to complete. After each cycle the trend data becomes richer and it becomes more clearer what is, and what is not working.
